Limiting Reactants SimulationLet's have a look at what's happening at the particle level when a reaction goes to completion. In ANY CHEMICAL REACTION, one chemical gets completely used up, while a portion of the other chemical is left unreacted. The chemical that is completely used up can no longer react and so we call it the LIMITING REACTANT. The chemical that is in EXCESS just sits there waiting, hoping, yearning for more of the limiting reactant to be added.....
Atomic Mass and Isotope simulatorThe simulator to the right will allow you to investigate the relative isotopic stability of a series of elements from the periodic table. Essentially you can add and remove neutrons, while monitoring various characteristics of the atom you are creating. You can look further into the relative abundance of each isotope and create your own mixes of isotopes, then compare them to what actually occurs in nature.
