Major Blood-Type GroupingsSince a good portion of you indicated you wanted notes of some kind, here's the summary for the ABO and Rh blood groupings.
Besides this summary, it would be good to know a bit about the donation process as well, such as WHY donate? HOW often can you donate? HOW much blood is donated at a time? HOW many litres of blood are in the human body? and HOW much is a "Unit" of blood. Also, it's a good idea to know your own blood type as well as which blood types you can receive, and which types can potentially receive a donation from you. |
Rhesus FactorWhat incredibly innovative city was the Anti-D Antibody invented and manufactured in? Right here in your own back yard at a company called Cangene.
Here's a copy of the worksheet we did in class, just after the kinaesthetic learning activity with the velcro bands and hand-held clasps/chains. If you can fill in the chart without assistance, it means you have a decent understanding of the various blood types, and can explain transfusion reactions.
